Age: 27
Position: Teacher of Mythical Studies (Mythological Literature Class)
Personality:
Ino is sweet and passionate; however, she is full of fear and sorrow. She hides it well, keeping a bright smile on her face to counter her eyes, clouded with emotion. She keeps a happy, cheerful demeanor around her students, but if her guard's down, other emotions creep through. She always wants the best of others, and is extremely compassionate of others, expecially when they've been through similar circumstances as her.
Ino is also especially gullible at times, so it may be easy for students to trick her, though once she finds out about it, she often lets it slide, unless it's a serious offense. (Read: you can get away with missing a couple of homework assignments, but don't make it a habit ) She also has a very forgiving heart.
The young teacher is also easy to scare, and she hates being blocked or restrained. She yearns to be loved by someone, but she doesn't let that get in the way of how she lives. She doesn't let the fact that she's lonely get her down too often, though her eyes may betray her.
Ino is also very passionate about her job, and she can get energetic while teaching or speaking her mind. When an issue she's very passionate about comes up, she can at times get a bit hot-headed and try to work towards her goals with vigor, but she is quick to back down when she sees others getting concerned or hurt by her actions or intentions.
Ino's past haunts her, but she keeps it locked inside. She fears it may one day spill out and cause her to break down, but she tries to keep her thoughts of that at bay. She doesn't want to get too distracted from her teaching. She is an absolute bibiophile and is very wise and knowledgable. She will readily help any students with homework or classwork, and try her very best to explain things to the best of her ability.
She's scared of losing people she loves, because one such person was killed saving her when she was little. She's open to friendship, but she'll often try not to get too close for fear of causing them harm. Her heart wishes to be filled wth love, though, so love may break those walls some day, if she's lucky.
All in all, Ino is a very wise, tranquil, and hopeful soul. She is also more energetic at night, and tends to get the urge for midnight snacks more than she likes eating during the day. So if you ask her on a date, better make it at night
She's calmer during the day and may seem sleepy if she was up too late at night, which happens often. That's why you'll likely see her with a cup of green tea most every time of day.

Looks/Physical Description:
Ino has a pixie-shaped face and big, deep brown eyes that seem to fill most of her small face, accented by her long, flattering eyelashes that seem to swoop down over her eyes like an owl's wing when she blinks. She has fair skin and pink lips, often upturned into a kindhearted, friendly smile. Her hair is brown and feathers around her face and down to her shoulders. She has small owl ears sticking up through her hair, fluffy and grayish-brown. She's often seen swiveling her head around to look at you rather than moving her eyes much, due to her owlish instincts. She can move her eyes fine, but she tends to subconsciously forget to. This often results in her appearing to be staring off into the distance absentmindedly, which may or may not be true, since she does tend to get lost in thought often. Her soft eyes are always clouded with hope or sadness, despite her mood or demeanor. It seems like she's permanently sad in her eyes, no matter how happy she may appear to be on the outside. She twitches her ears when she's irritated or nervous.
When she's happy she has a high, chirpy laugh and a bright face, with big smiles and wide eyes, and she tends to move around more and use her hands when she talks, making her seem more excited and involved in conversations and situations. When she's sad, however, her owl-ears seem to droop a bit, and her eyes seem to shimmer with sadness, her gaze more distant than usual.
She tends to wear tight-fitting jeans that show off her lean, graceful-looking legs, and she likes to wear boots no matter the occasion. She likes to stick with natural colors, such as browns, greens, and dark blues, and she is usually seen carrying around a satchel, likely filled with books and students' papers. She likes wearing hats, as it was an old habit of hers when she had to hide her owl ears from other people. She also tends to wear sweaters and jackets a lot when it gets even a little bit cold. She also wears a small brown leather watch engraved with feathers. It's a keepsake from her teenage years. She can be a bit self-conscious at times, but is trying to learn to get over it.
Ino can be rather clumsy, though you couldn't tell just by watching her. She walks gracefully, and she tends to skip when she's happy, instead of walking.

Backstory:
(to keep this from being as extremely long as it could be if I wrote it fully out, her life will be portrayed in snapshots, with enough information to get her story across.)
The beginning...
Twenty-seven years ago a beautiful baby girl was born in a hospital in the middle of winter. She had soft, downy brown hair and large, bright brown eyes that took up most of her face, only rivaled by an adorable smile claiming her small lips. She was the perfect baby girl. The doctors cooed at her, and she giggled and made little baby noises, reaching up at them with chubby, delicate baby hands.
Then, all of a sudden the power shut off in the hospital and there were screams. The baby girl curled up into her mother's arms and cried. Out of nowhere cold hands grabbed her and snatched her from her mother's arms. They both screamed but the hands carried her away, far from her mother and into the dark.
She woke up hooked to tubes and getting poked with needles. She screamed and cried but was soon silenced. She could barely see, and her attention span was filled with snippets of scary faces and white labcoats. Over a course of a few months scientists tested her and experimented on her with animal DNA, splicing her with 2% of an owl's DNA, and thus she got extraordinary senses and cute little feathery owl ears, but at the cost of being trapped in a horrible laboratory for her young years, with no contact of the outside world.
A few years later...
Ino woke up, rubbing sleep out of her hollow eyes and peering disdainfully through the bars of her cell. Tears stained her cheeks as she scanned the darkened lab. It seemed to be the middle of the night, yet she was wide awake. Her arms ached from needle injections, blood tests and the like. All of the other test subjects were fast asleep, save for a wolf-boy that was creepily staring at her like pray. She shivered and wrapped her arms around herself. She hated it there.
As far as Ino knew, she'd been in the lab her whole life, poked and prodded and experimented on. When she'd become part owl, she didn't know. She cautiously felt her fuzzy little owl ears and more tears rolled down her cheeks. The only person in this whole place was who she referred to as her father, one of the main scientists who brought her food and sometimes told her stories and taught her. She fervently hoped that one day he would save her and she could get out of that dreaded place.
Little to her knowledge, the lab was actually a supernatural center for science, secret and underground, because they did horrible, drastic experiments. Ino wasn't totally spliced with an owl. A psychic scientist has literally melded her mind to absorb an owl's instincts and enhance her sensory abilities. She was supernatural in a partial sense, but she was very different from others. The owl was in her DNA, and supernatural powers lie dormant in her genetic code, to be awakened in the far future.
The escape...
It was the middle of the day, and as usual Ino was sleeping. Silent footsteps made their way towards Ino's cage and her small ears twitched. A tall, muscular scientist cautiously opened Ino's cell and leaned over the sleeping girl. He gently placed a hand on her back and shook her slightly. Ino woke with a start, eyes dilated. Then she spotted her 'father' and relaxed, hugging him close. He chuckled softly and hugged her back, lifting her up in his arms.
"Daddy," Ino whispered. "What's going on?"
The scientist stroked the girl's hair and smiled softly. "I'm getting you out of here."
The scientist, through a secret passage, brought Ino out of that wretched place and ran, ignoring blazing alarms as they left their old, wretched lives behind forever. Or, at least it seemed like forever...
The loss...
The scientist brought Ino up through her childhood years, teaching her about who she was, and keeping her safe from the outside world. They were constantly on the move, as her father didn't want to risk the possibility of his new daughter being captured and taken back to that horrible place. He was always wary, until a few years passed, and he let his guard down.
The small family of two settled down into a small apartment, where they stayed comfortably for a few months, until one day, there was a knock at the door. The two exchanged wary glances and decided to stay silent, waiting until the visitor went away. But he didn't go away. The front door came crashing down as three men stormed in and pointed guns at the happy family. They took one look at Ino's ears and exchanged wicked smiles.
"We got her, at last!." The leader of the group crowed.
Ino's eyes widened, and she glanced towards the window.
"You can't have her." Her father said menacingly, pushing Ino towards the window. "RUN!"
Ino froze, time seeming to stop as she stumbled towards the window, turning with a scream as the three men took aim at her father and fired. She shook, pushing open the window and jumping out, tears forming in her glistening eyes. Luckily, they had their apartment on the first floor. So she hit the ground running. And she ran, and ran, and ran.
Teenage Years...
Ino had run far from her old home, misery and fear chasing her as she tried to hide from the evil men who had murdered her father. She hid in alleyways and skipped towns, taking back-roads, living as best she could on the run.
Eventually, after a few years of running and practically starving, she ended up in Virginia and ran into a kindly librarian who offered her a job at the local library. Ino loved books, as they reminded her of her father, who'd taught her to read at a young age. She happily worked at the library, finally safe from the evil scientists, for now at least.
With the money she got from the library, Ino rented a small apartment in town, and lived peacefully hidden behind books with minimal human contact, always covering who she was with a hat. She spent many years reading and living peacefully, slowly becoming immersed in the lore of mythology and the sciences behind who she was. She was incredibly curious about others like her, and yearned to know more.
Chasing Curiosity...
After years of building curiosity and simplicity of life, Ino began to get fidgety. She wanted to know more, and she was beginning to feel she was too comfortable in the new town, and people were starting to recognize her. It was time to move on again. It greatly saddened her, but it was the best for her. She didn't want to run into the scientists of her past, and she wanted to learn. Learn so much more about the mythical past and about animal hybrids like herself.
Before she packed up to go on the run again, about twenty at this point, she learned of a school. She heard it in snippets at the library. People talking about a supernatural school in the area. They spoke with fear and wonder, and Ino's interest got piqued. She left the next morning, all of her possessions packed in a single suitcase. It was mostly books she'd taken from her old home, after years of leaving it in fear of meeting the scientists. She'd only dropped by briefly, then left as soon as she could, like a shadow.
The School...
After fervently searching, Ino eventually found Xorinthia Academy, and spent six years there studying and learning all she could of mythic lore and creatures of all types. She quickly fell in love with the school, safe within its strong gates among others like her. After she'd studied and learned so much she could burst with information and appreciation, she was offered a teaching job, and she gladly and eagerly accepted. She's been teaching ever since.
The scientists...
Unbeknownst to Ino, the scientists who haunted her childhood no longer wished to pursue her, as their entire operation shut down. They got scared and lost interest in their research once Ino got too far out of their reach. They feared that if they continued, it'd leak out to Ino, and she'd report them to the police, or something worse. They also got into some trouble once people found out about the death of the scientist who had raised Ino. Suspicions were high regarding their operation, so they decided to just shut it down.

Abilities:
Though Ino is genetically spliced with an owl, she can not fly and does not have wings; however, she has exceptional eyesight and can see in even the darkest nights. Another rather freaky thing she can do is turn her head around in ways that should not be possible. She can also move her eyes so she has better vision than pretty much any human, though she tends not to move her eyes much, as it seems unnatural to her. This is good for defensive purposes, and the classroom, but she's not much of a fighter, so she tends to just use it for her teacherly duties. As well as her exceptional sight, she has almost equally good hearing. She can hear a mouse rustle from across a field. The main weakness to this, is that it's very hard for her to find a quiet place for her to think, and because her hearing is so sharp, it can hurt her to hear loud noises, so she tends to get headaches very easily. This makes her talk quieter and scold students for talking more than most teachers would. Also, bright lights hurt her eyes, so she tends to keep her personal spaces dimly lighted, including her classroom.
Ino also has supernatural powers she's unaware of, due to her very limited memory of the supernatural laboratory. They may awaken later in times of great danger, but she has yet to discover them.
