Owen had been waiting for this all morning and now here it was. No lessons, just some good old rest and relaxation. What better way for the young Siren to relax than to lay in the large garden fountain, the cool water running slowly over his shimmering tail, eyes closed and humming a soft melody in his silky voice. Opportunities like this were rare and didn't come about very often. He didn't really go to water when others were around because it wasn't common knowledge among the students that Owen was a Siren. All most people knew was that he was the school smart-ass and he could manipulate water and had a sway over the weather. Other than that, they knew nothing about what powers Owen possessed. That was how he liked it. After all, it was better that they knew nothing rather than than them watching him all the time, thinking he was suddenly going to burst into song and hypnotize them.
As he lay in the fountain, humming his melody, he couldn't help but think back to when he was a kid, remembering the times that his father had been teaching him how to pollinate the sea bed by manipulating the current. It was something that Owen had picked up very easily. He had been so proud of himself and he had seen the look of pride on his father's face too. He missed that; someone being proud of him. In fact, he just missed someone loving him. He didn't know where his dad was these days. It wasn't as if the guy could just pop in for a visit, obviously, but it would be nice to hear something from him.
Distracted by his silent reverie, Owen had completely forgotten that there was a chance he could be seen in his Siren form. All he was thinking about was the good old days.
